Common Questions

How many rolls of wallpaper do I need for a room?

Measure the total wall perimeter in feet and multiply by the ceiling height. Subtract 20 square feet per door and 15 square feet per window. Divide that by the usable square footage per roll. Add 10 percent for waste and pattern matching.

What is a pattern repeat in wallpaper?

Pattern repeat is the distance between where the pattern starts to repeat. A 12 inch repeat means you lose up to 12 inches per strip matching the pattern at the seam. Larger repeats mean more waste when cutting strips.

Should I buy extra wallpaper rolls?

Yes, always buy one extra roll. Wallpaper is made in batches called dye lots and colors can vary between batches. If you need to patch a wall later and that dye lot is discontinued, you will have a visible mismatch.

How wide is a standard wallpaper roll?

US standard rolls are 27 inches wide and 27 feet long (single roll). Double rolls are 27 inches wide and 54 feet long. European rolls are usually 20.5 inches wide.
